Elisabeth Blom is a Dutch soprano and conductor known for her artistic versatility, refined vocal expression, and inspiring leadership. Combining both careers creates a powerful synergy: her work as a singer brings clarity and nuance to her conducting, while her experience as a conductor deepens her musical insight and ensemble awareness.
She trained in choral conducting at the Rotterdam Conservatory (Wiecher Mandemaker), the Royal Conservatory in The Hague (Jos van Veldhoven), and the Utrecht Conservatory (Rob Vermeulen). Her vocal teachers include Rita Dams and Hanneke de Wit. She further refined her artistry through masterclasses such as the Kurt Thomas Course and the International Masterclass for Choral Conductors by Studium Chorale.
Elisabeth is the founder of the award-winning Ruach Vocal Youth Ensemble (Choir of the Year 2012), a choir that flourished for many years under her direction, and co-founder and artistic director of the professional ensemble Hollands Collectief, dedicated to Renaissance and contemporary Dutch music.
She performs regularly with leading ensembles including Cappella Amsterdam, the Netherlands Chamber Choir, the Amsterdam Baroque Orchestra & Choir, and Studium Chorale.
As a soloist she appears in major repertoire ranging from Bach’s St Matthew and St John Passion to the Requiems of Mozart and Fauré, solo recitals with composers such as J.S. Bach, Olivier Messiaen or the unknown Dutch composer Gerard von Brucken Fock.
Elisabeth has conducted numerous choirs across the Netherlands and since 2017 has served as the artistic successor to Daan Manneke at Cappella Breda. Her approach combines musical excellence with a strong focus on vocal technique, guiding singers and ensembles toward their highest artistic potential—with clarity, commitment and a touch of humor.
